WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — A former D.C. police officer who served as a pimp for teenage girls was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday afternoon.

Linwood Barnhill pleaded guilty to two counts of pandering of a minor and one count of possession of child pornography back in June. He was arrested in Dec. 2013 after police found a missing 16-year-old girl in his apartment.

In a plea deal, Barnhill was sentenced to seven years, which is two years less time in prison than the minimum recommended under federal guidelines.

The judge agreed to the deal in part because the victims strongly objected to coming forward and testifying. The judge also said the most serious charge, possession of child pornography, was based on a recording of a 17 year old performing legal and consensual sex on the ex-cop. The act was legal, but possessing a recording of someone under 18 performing sex is illegal.

Barnhill was “cultivating the juvenile to engage in prostitution” by taking clothed and unclothed pictures of her, prosecutors said. He was going to send pictures of the teen to a man interested in “an appointment” with the her, according to court records.

“Barnhill further explained that he was going to set up a “date” for her to engage in sexual acts with this man, who would pay her $80,” prosecutors said.

Investigation revealed that Barnhill also served as a pimp for a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl.

When he gets out of prison, Barnhill will be placed on 10 years of supervised release. He also will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
